{Dinosaur} Boys Room

While visiting friends in Seattle, I ran across a small boutique that had the cutest stuffed dinosaur in the window. It was so, so adorable that I begged my husband that our future child “needed” it! To be honest, I can’t remember if we were even pregnant at the time – I just instantly fell in love with it! My husband, being the sweet man he is, asked the store clerk to pull it from the window display and we bought it! So naturally when it was time to move our son out of the nursery and into his “big boy” room, that dinosaur became the inspiration for the decor!

I found some adorable dinosaur sheets from the Company Store Kids, and built the room colors around them. I painted the walls & ceiling a light gray and then painted chevron stripes on the main wall. I wanted to add pops of color all over (after-all it was a little boys room!) and was hoping a big focal point would be a bright green crib! But alas, green cribs were nowhere to be found (in fact I couldn’t find a single bright colored crib anywhere at the time). So I did some research and found some “kid-safe” nontoxic paint and created my own!

Once that was complete, with the help of my mom, I made coordinating quilts & pillow cases for the day bed and the crib. I painted a few wooden crates and hung them on the wall for fun shelves.

I painted a few dinosaurs on canvases to tie in with the bedding and chevron wall.

I also scored a super cute bookshelf from a garage sale and painted it a bright orange.

The whole room turned out so fun and colorful. A definite fav for a little boys room!
